The Alice Marshall Mchugh

I picked up my new guitar on Saturday morning, she's lovely, thanks for asking. It feels like to actually have a nice peice of equipment for once, rather than spending the last minutes leading up to gigs desperatly calling everyone i know in desperate need to borrow a guitar. It does mean I'm skint as a badger though. I'm seemingly on a constant routine of just about affording the things i NEED to do, followed by being really poor to make sure i can afford the next thing. It's rubbish, but i'm pretty certain im not the only person in this situation.
I'm hovering between booking my train and bus tickets for our december tour ASAP to make sure they remain cheap (and that's a relative word) as possible, or holding out for the fact that we still might just find someway to do it in a car. I'd be more depressed at the price of public transport if i wasn't so excited about our little trip. I suppose calling it a 'tour' is slightly grand anyway, it's gonna be 4 dates over 4 days, more of a long weekend if anything. But i don't care, that's 4 days where all i've got to think about is playing songs, meeting new people, seeing good bands and partying in the new old fashioned way.
This probaly isn't the most exciting blog you've ever read, and for that I apologise. But i realised that this site hadn't been updated since before we even recorded the EP - which is online now, download it for free at archive.org/details/ThatsASpareDave - so i thought i should endevour to keep it fresh.
We're playing 1in12 club in Bradford again on Saturday, this is good news, because it's an awesome place and is full of awesome people.
Big loves
Elliot

P.S - i recently came across a band called 'As We Sink'. They are from the southern side of our little island. They are also massivly brilliant. You can hear three songs online at www.myspace.com/aswesinkwescream. I think you should definatly take that opportunity.

P.P.S - I havn't seen Graeme since our last gig in Bradford, which was like 3 weeks ago. That is rubbish, on both a band and friend level. I place a hex on for University giving him so much work to do, the educational system in Liverpool is blatently not a d.l.p.f.y fan. BOOOOO.

We ain't no holla back girls

Hello!
Elliot here. I'm sat in a bar in liverpool with Graeme and in about 35 minutes we are heading into the studio to record the E.P. Now, i don't know about you but I'm pretty excited.
We just did our first 'interview' for a local music website so hopefully that'll be appearing online pretty soon. It's actually pretty difficult to answer questions about your band without seeming as if you take yourself way too seriously or coming across as a real dick. I don't even know if we managed it, guess we'll have to wait and see.
I belive the EP is being mixed on Saturday so hopefully the middle of next week we'll have some brand new songs to put online. It'll be available in it's physical state next weekend for our gigs in bradford (saturday) and sheffield (sunday). Although it's pretty certain the sleeves and inlays won't be ready by then so luckily enough for anyone wanting one at a gig will get it for free. When they come out 'proper' it will cost, but something in the realm of £1.50 / £2. It'd be lovely if everyone could have it for free but we probaly can't really afford that. Should be around online for download though, you just wont get the artwork and stuff.

Big love, as always
Elliot & Graeme

the old asphyxi-wank...

graeme here. its saturday night and im bored shitless. im back in york for one night only, my birthday on monday and a family gathering tomorrow, and thanks to my 3rd year univeristy timetable a half nine start back in liverpool on monday morning. this academic year is shit busy for me, but im very grateful to be able to play some shows during that. bradford in october, then the yorkshire boys invade the south of england at xmas. elliot and i decided on a name for our e.p too, itll be titled 'thats a spare, dave'.
So we're recording, playing shows, doing mini tours, all before christmas, and theres a dirty rumour of a special get together im organising for new years eve at a location the other side of the pennines to where i am as i write this.

but for now i will go try and rid myself of this terrible boredom before i do my best michael hutchence impression.

Doubles bills of The Bill are rad

Title explains itself really. 9 - 11 every weekday morning on Watch. One of unemployments many benefits.

Also, i just found somebody i don't know recommending us to someone looking for good new bands to listen to on punktastic. It made me smile, which was nice.
And now i leave you, to ride my bike to Safestyle UK , to be interviewed for a job peddlin' windows.

Thrilling.

That's a spare Dave

Holla. Bit new to this blogging lark but i'm not one to not jump on any bandwagon going so here we are!
We organising a little southern jaunt in December which should be lovely, hopefully gonna be doing some shows with those hepcats from The Mega Games Two.
Before that we have a couple of YORKSHIRE (YORKSHIRE! YORKSHIRE!) gigs to get the haps on. Saturday Oct 10th at the 1in12 club in BRADFORD with Classical Definition of Madness ( Jonny Bombthreats new band don't you know) and hopefully we're gonna be doing a show in leeds the night before, all going well.
And, at some point in the next month (hopefully the weekend of Oct 2nd) we are gonna record our debut EP. Okay, so we have some songs online already, but nothing ever really got released, plus it'll be our first recordings since Graeme joined.
Lovely.
